Inspired by the art of the Renaissance period, in particular Michelangelo’s sketch entitled The Tree of Life for the paving of Rome’s Piazza del Campidoglio, this expressive piece reflects a time of curiosity about the natural world and a fascination with geometry, astronomy and symbolism. We used intricate glass painting and etching techniques on European mouth-blown glass to create highly detailed flowers, leaves, bees and butterflies, all of which have further symbolic meaning and which together are reflective of the best qualities of humanity.
