Progress on Our Lady of the Valley

I thought I’d post a few shots taken of my hubby John working on our window for Our Lady of The Valley, Coldstream BC.

~ The first photo shows John cutting the selected glass over the “cutline” structural drawing.

~ Each piece of cut glass after being trace-lined and fired is then placed on a glass easel and then attached with pure beeswax.

~ The glass is then covered in the paint oxide, “matted-up”ready for the first painting process.

~ John seen here working in the negative to remove the paint oxide to create the tonal values, such as semi-tones and highlights, to give initial structure to the face and nimbus.
It’s handy that both of us enjoy painting.
