I have just realized that I didn’t yet post a photo of our completed St. Matthew window; we showed you the cartoon and trace line stage but not the end result!
We’re happily working on several new clerestory windows for St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Kerrisdale; St. Matthew is the 10th to be installed.
We have a great fondness for St. Mary’s, we are able to work closely with the benefactors as they are local to us and they are able to visit our studio several times during the process of designing, drawing, painting and fabricating the window. This, for most people is a rare opportunity and something we are happy to be able to offer.
The St. Mary’s windows often have an element that is personal to the benefactor, in this case it was the inclusion of the 100 year old Copper Beach tree which is in their garden. The tree has long been a symbol of strength, wisdom and longevity which we felt was entirely appropriate to add to our depiction of St. Matthew.
